Our Approach to Community

Thalamus Labz is the open-source arm of Thalamus AI. While our parent company serves enterprise clients with managed solutions, we're here to democratize the same technology—making enterprise-grade AI governance accessible to developers, small businesses, and the open-source community.

We believe the best AI infrastructure should be accessible to everyone. That's why we open source our core tools and maintain a thriving community around them. Your PR matters more than our quarterly roadmap.

When there's a conflict between what's good for Thalamus Labz and what's good for the community, we choose the community.

Community Over Company

When there's a conflict between what's good for Thalamus Labz and what's good for the community, we choose the community.

Open by Default

If it can be open source, it should be. We don't believe in proprietary moats—we believe in public infrastructure.

SMB-First Design

Build for the 5-person HVAC shop. If it works for them, it scales up. Enterprise features without enterprise complexity.

Knowledge Wants to Be Free

The best AI governance tools shouldn't be locked behind enterprise contracts. They should be available to everyone.

Why Community Editions?

Most of our products have community editions because we believe in the power of open collaboration. When we build in the open, we get:

  • Better code — More eyes on the codebase means bugs get caught faster and features get refined.
  • Real-world testing — Community members use our tools in ways we never imagined, surfacing edge cases and new use cases.
  • Shared knowledge — When everyone can see how the tools work, everyone learns. Documentation improves. Tutorials get written.
  • Trust — You don't have to trust our marketing. You can audit every line of code.

The community editions are fully functional. They're not "lite" versions or trialware. They're the real deal, MIT licensed, ready to deploy. If you need managed hosting, enterprise support, or custom integrations, that's where Thalamus AI (our parent company) comes in.
